Thirsty for Change
On July 7th, students of the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya held an environmentally-friendly fashion show, entitled “Thirsty for Change”. The goal of the show was to promote awareness about the need to conserve water in Israel. The idea behind the show, according to its director, was to link fashion and environmentalism in way that would make people realize that they should think about how much water they waste just as much as they think about what they are going to wear. The show’s organizer Taya Friedman said, “People spend countless hours worrying about what to wear and when it comes to water usage, something that really needs our attention, no one thinks twice about it. Since fashion is something people care about, its a great platform for promoting change,” Friedman’s point of view is one that we at Zalul can relate to; we believe that Israel’s water crisis deserves as much attention as that hot model walking down the runway.
