Environmental links from Israel and beyond

November 8, 2007
  • From Haaretz – Between 2001 to 2005, one-third of Israel’s drinking water sources were closed due to pollution contamination primarily from agricultural runoff.
  • Sviva Israel – A Jerusalem based organization that combines traditional Jewish environmental ethics with modern principles of sustainable development.  And they have a bilingual ecological footprint quiz in Hebrew and English for school children!
  • Environmental News Network – Ship emissions seen causing 60,000 deaths a year from heart and lung related cancers.  Shanghai, Singapore, and Hong Kong – three of the five busiest shipping ports in the world – are likely to suffer most from the impact.
  • Learn how easy it is to build your own green home with this fun online game.

And don’t forget, tomorrow, Friday, November 9, 2007 from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm Zalul will be taking part in the Port of Jaffa underwater cleanup.  Read more about the event here.
