Sewage leak closes Bat Yam beaches.

Haaretz - Nov 1, 2007 - Bathing banned in Bat Yam

Yesterday morning, bright and early, the Zalul office received a phone call from a resident of Bat Yam, “There is sewage flowing into the sea.”  With that, Shahar Brinenberg, Zalul’s Mediterranean Sea Project Coordinator, was off to check out the situation first hand – and take some excellent pictures while he was at it.

The hundreds of cubic meters of sewage released into the sea along a popular beach for local residents was the result of an electrical malfunction on the city’s sewage system.
